Estas son tanto condiciones dadas por el medio ambiente como construidas por la propia especie en su operar en el mundo. Por ejemplo, los panales son parte del nicho ecológico de las abejas, las represas de los castores, y las culturas y estructuras sociales de los seres humanos.
