it is absurd to think that 23% of teen boys and 12% of teen girls (the current diagnosis rates for ADHD in the US) are “mentally disordered” in this way. But it is not at all absurd to think that this many kids are sufficiently far toward one end of a personality dimension to interfere with their ability to do schoolwork, given our coercive, very boring, sedentary approach to schooling.
